Qatar Airways denials fail to quell Oneworld speculation

Shares in British Airways owner International Consolidated Airline Group (IAG) were flying high on Tuesday morning on reports that Qatar Airways is joining the oneworld Alliance of global airlines.Though the reports were dismissed by Qatar Airways' Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker, on Monday as "all rumours", speculation still persists that an announcement about the tie-up will be made next Monday. Industry web site Travel Daily reports Al Baker as saying the airline would not join Oneworld. Tweets from the airline itself from Al Baker's speech in Qatar on Monday added "We are not, at the moment, considering joining an alliance," the travel web site reports. CM
