(Sharecast News) - Pets at Home has appointed William Hewish to the newly-created role of chief information officer.The pet care business said Hewish, who joins the company from United Utilities, has a wealth of experience. He spent the last six years at UU leading the technology, data and business change teams. In addition, he has held senior technology roles in companies such as Lloyds pharmacy, DeVere Hotels and Booker.Pets said the new role will help it deliver on the strategic IT needs of the group well into the future. Hewish will report to group chief executive Peter Pritchard and will join the business early next year.Pritchard said: "I am delighted to have recruited someone of William's calibre to take on our new role of chief information officer, an appointment which now completes our group executive team. William's knowledge will play a key role in supporting the strategic IT needs of our business as we move towards a more integrated, digitally-led approach."William has the experience and know-how to help integrate our digital platforms, build systems that are fit for the future and in turn help us better serve the needs of pet owners."At 1000 GMT, the shares were down 1.5% to 118.50p.
