Northumbrian Water confirms Cheung King offer proposal

Water and waste management group Northumbrian Water has confirmed that it received a proposal about an offer from the Hong Kong infrastructure group Cheung Kong.The statement comes after Cheung King said on Monday that it was in the initial stages of sizing up an offer for the northeast England-based utility."There can be no certainty that an offer will be made," Northumbrian said in a brief statement today."A further announcement will be made when appropriate."Cheung Kong invests in energy, transport and water infrastructure in Hong Kong and mainland China and internationally. It has stakes in the UK companies Southern Water and Cambridge Water. ---RG
