Meggitt wins shoot out for Aussie defence contract

Meggitt, the FTSE 250 company specialising in components for the aerospace and defence markets has won a contract with the Australian Defence Force (ADF).The contract, worth n A$29M (US$30.8M), is to operate a weapon simulation system.The firm claims the system helps soldiers hone their judgement and marksmanship in the heat of battle. The order follows a 10 year history of supplying services to the ADF and is, in essence, an extension of a contract the firm first won back in 1999 and will be coordinated from Meggitt's facility in Albury, New South Wales.It will secure jobs for around 70 members of staff.Ronald Vadas, President of Meggitt Training Systems commented: "This contract award reflects ten years supporting the ADF's training vision with innovative training and simulation systems. They will continue to be backed up by our highly experienced trainers-mostly ex-service personnel-who know how to maximise the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for success on the modern battlefield."BS
