Kier trading still mixed

Contractor Kier Group said trading remains varied across its divisions, with some activities benefiting from high public sector expenditure and others continuing to operate in challenging conditions.The construction division continues to perform well, with the public sector accounting for about 75% of awards in the year to date.Support services is also going well, with strong activity continuing in social housing maintenance.However, the partnership homes division is still being affected by difficult conditions in the private housing market, Kier said."Whilst the current markets for our homes and property developments remain challenging we have a number of good long-term opportunities which will provide considerable value for the future," the firm said.
