JD Sports Fashion CEO steps down

JD Sports Fashion Chief Executive Barry Bown will step down from the board with immediate effect, the sports retailer announced on Friday.Bown has worked for the company since 1984 and was second in charge after Executive Chairman Peter Cowgill.The group provided no reason for Bown's decision to leave and said there would be no immediate replacement."The board would like to thank Barry for his valued and considerable contribution to the growth and progress of the business," Cowgill said. "We look forward to his continued support as a consultant to the company."JD Sports, which runs the Blacks, Millets and Bank outlets, has achieved a rise in sales and profits over the last year as its stores have focused on trainers and sports fashion.RD
