IMI seeks new chairman

IMI is looking for a new chairman after Norman Askew today announced his decision to leave the engineer next year.Askew, who joined the board as chairman in May 2005 after running Virginia Power and BNFL, will retire in 2011.The 68-year-old stepped down as chairman of housebuilder Taylor Wimpey at the end of June. He'd been chairman of Taylor Woodrow since July 2003 and continued his role when the company merged with Wimpey in July 2007.IMI's senior independent director, Terry Gateley, is leading the hunt for a replacement.
