(ShareCast News) - British Airways and Iberia parent International Consolidated Airlines Group said it carried 12.4% more passengers in August than it did in the same month last year.Passenger numbers for August came in at 9.1m from 8.1m in 2014, while the load factor rose to 86.6% from 84.7%.Group traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, increased by 8.6% versus August last year, while capacity measured in available seat kilometres was up 6.1%.IAG said premium traffic for the month rose by 8.7% compared with the previous year.On Tuesday, IAG said its offer for Aer Lingus had closed and it now controls 98.05% of the Irish carrier.IAG said that Aer Lingus shareholders who accepted the offer will receive payment for their shares within 14 days. This includes Ryanair, which had a nearly 30% stake in the carrier and the Irish government, which owned 25.1%.At 1521 BST, IAG shares were up 4.5% at 567p.
