(Sharecast News) - Hurricane Energy said it produced 9,639 barrels of oil a day in January at its Scottish Lancaster Field and had been asked by the industry regulator to lodge additional funds as a decommissioning security.

The oil-and-gas company said that as of February 14, the field was producing around 9,500 barrels of oil a day from the P6 well alone.

Hurricane said the request from the UK's oil-and-gas regulator, was expected to be for up to £5.7m in the first quarter, increasing the funds placed into trust for decommissioning to around £33.7m.

At the end of January Hurricane had net free cash of around $85m, up from $50m at the end of last year.
