Kitchen products group Howden Joinery said sales have reached the £1bn mark with three trading weeks of the financial year still to go.This is the first time that the group has achieved this milestone, with revenues reaching £940.7m in 2013."This is a very special day for Howdens," said chief executive Matthew Ingle."Reaching £1bn of sales within 20 years of opening our first depots is testimony to the drive and enthusiasm of all the people who work at Howdens."Ingle said the company's future "is as exciting and promising as that day in 1995 when the story began", but added: "There remains much to do."Howden, which employs over 6,600 people, sells kitchens and joinery products to small local builders and other trade customers, from 580 depots in the UK. It also has a small operation in northern France.
