LONDON (Dow Jones)--Halfords Group PLC (HFD.LN), the car parts and cycle retailer, said the priority of its operations is in its core market of the U.K., where the company sees further growth opportunities, according to a report in The Mail on Sunday. "Our priority is Britain, where we see opportunities we want to exploit," Chief Executive David Wild said in an interview with the newspaper. Wild also said the group was "unlucky" in the locations it chose for its international operations. The group's stores in the Czech Republic and Poland closed earlier this year, the newspaper says. "I think we were unlucky (by) choosing markets badly affected by the recession," he said. Halford's trading statement this week is expected to confirm that the company experienced a fall in sales in May and June, the newspaper says, without citing sources.
