(Sharecast News) - Grafton said on Wednesday that it has appointed Ian Tyler as its next chairman, with effect from 1 March.

Tyler succeeds Michael Roney, who is due to step down at the annual meeting in May.

The DIY, home and garden retailer said Tyler is a highly experienced chair and former chief executive, with wide-ranging experience across a range of industries.

He is currently non-executive director of Anglo American and Synthomer and chair of BMT Group, a privately owned design and technical consulting firm, and Affinity Water.

Previously, Tyler was chair of Amey, Vistry Group, AWE Management, Al Noor Hospitals Group and Cairn Energy. He is also a former non-executive director of BAE Systems, Cable & Wireless Communications, VT Group and Mediclinic International.
