Gibbs: Administration May Seize BP Claims Processing -AP

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES The Obama administration is ready to take over BP PLC's (BP) handling of oil-spill-damage claims if the company doesn't set up an "independent entity" to do it, spokesman Robert Gibbs said Tuesday, The Associated Press reported. Gibbs said BP's claims processing has been unsatisfactory, noting that Obama has the "legal authority" to make the claims process independent. "The best way to prevail upon BP is to take the claims process away from BP," he said.
