Genus, the FTSE 250 global animal genetics company, has completed the acquisition of Génétiporc, the porcine genetics business of US group Aliments Breton Foods. The company said that it continued to hold discussions regarding the acquisition of Génétiporc's Brazilian joint venture following the memorandum of understanding agreed in September. "Génétiporc represents an excellent strategic fit with Genus's core activities and has very similar values to Genus's porcine global business unit, PIC," Genus said."Génétiporc has a strong reputation across the Americas for porcine genetics with a particular emphasis on meat quality, product development, bio-security and health, all of which are also areas of focus for Genus. The acquisition will bring significant opportunities from the combination of the two operations and will further strengthen PIC's market position."NR
