Salamander Energy plunged after it issued a disappointing update on its Bedug-1 exploration well in the Bontang production sharing contract. Although the well was found to be a gas discovery, exploration was terminated as a result of high pressures. Halfords was also taking a hit after the automotive products retail reported flat full-year revenues and a fall in profit. The group posted a pre-tax profit, before non-recurring items, of £72m for the year ended March 31st, down 21.9% on the previous year. Meanwgile, PayPoint reported a 10.9 per cent rise in annual pre-tax profit to 41.3m pounds as the online payments company achieved record transaction volume.
