No frills airliner easyJet reported strong demand in its July-September quarter and expects full-year pre-tax profits to fall in the range of £200m to £230m, assuming normal market conditions. Shares of the company soared nearly 15% and were the top gainer on the mid-cap stock index.Second half total revenue per seat is now expected to improve by around 5% to 6% with planned improvement in yields, bag charges and other ancillary revenues, according to easyJet.Cable & Wireless Communications, which operates telecommunication businesses in the Caribbean, Panama, Macau and Monaco, says performance in its first quarter has been "satisfactory." The Caribbean area, which excludes the separate Bahamas business, was down on 2010 as promotional activities ended in Jamaica. However, shares tumbled about 3%. Paper and packaging firm Mondi expects profits for the first half of 2011 to be "considerably higher" than in the same period last year, it said in an announcement today, sending its shares 1.2% higher.
