Mining companies are continuing their decline today. They are dominating the fallers for a second day as base metals prices fall and there are concerns about the international recovery. ENRC and Kazakhmys remain the worst performers. BP is another regular in the poor performers. Nomura Securities has suggested that BP may have to raise funds to meet its liabilities from the Gulf of Mexico spill while others are more concerned about the prospect of the first tropical storm of the hurricane season hampering the firm's clean-up campaign. Banks with exposure to emerging markets are led higher by Standard Chartered.
