FTSE 100 movers: BP hit again

BP returned to its position at the bottom of the FTSE 100 on fears it will be hit with a financial penalty in addition to a suspension of the dividend.Proposals from US senators could mean the oil firm places $20bn in an escrow account to pay for the impact of the spill in the Gulf of Mexico.President Obama will outline his plan in a speech tomorrow and the market fears it could be severe on the company. BP itself said the cost of the clean-up has reached £1.1bn with over 1,000 claims submitted since the MC252 oil well blew up in the Gulf of Mexico in April. Mining companies are boosted by higher metals prices.
