Temporary power provider Aggreko topped the FTSE Tuesday as a report highlighted the "urgent" need to meet rising energy demands. EnergyUK, which represents more than 80 energy providers, has written to Energy Secretary, Ed Davey, calling for an increase in capacity in the market to prevent an energy shortfall.International Consolidated Airlines (IAG) soared despite the grounding of a British Airways flight last week following a technical fault in an engine. The company also last week announced it would be holding a shareholders' meeting next month to approve the delisting of Vueling's shares from the Spanish stock exchange.Petrofac advanced after ABN Amro upgraded the oil company's stock to 'buy.' The broker also highlighed the fact that even after the forecast decline the company's return on capital employed (ROCE) is expected to be at 43% come 2015, versus 49% last year. Evraz, on the other hand, retreated following reports that miners were set to feel the pinch of rising steel supply and short demand. Randgold Resources's stock continued to be weighed down by the refusal of gold prices to hold above $1,400 per ounce. Both Bank of America-Merrill Lynch and J.P.Morgan Cazenove lowered their price forecasts for gold on Tuesday.Falling commodity prices also dragged down shares of Eurasian Natural Resources. Analysts at JP Morgan Cazenove today lowered their price forecasts for most metals. A case in point, the outlook for the price of copper has been cut by 4% to 3.50 dollars a pound. As well, the FT wonders aloud about the motives behind Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov recent stake building in the mining group.
