Broadband satellite operator Avanti Communications has announced five new contracts for the use of its HYLAS 1 services in Europe. The contracts have been signed by Buzz Networks and Rural Broadband UK of the UK, Broadband Algarve of Portugal and Globatel of Spain, while Prime Satellite Broadband, an existing customer, has signed an extended contract for more capacity and is extending the commitment from three years to five years."As our current customers progress their own sales efforts they are likely to top up their commitments next year, so we expect to sell out HYLAS 1 capacity within the planned three years with the growth in demand from existing and new broadband customers," said Avanti chief executive David Williams. "In addition we are experiencing significant bidding activity for large enterprise and cellular backhaul deals which could accelerate the rate of fill," Williams added.
