Budget airline easyJet has granted founder and major shareholder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou's request to hold an extraordinary meeting to vote on the removal of outgoing senior independent director Sir David Michels.Sir Stelios wrote to easyJet's board to question why Sir David, who is standing down at the end of the year, is still sitting on the board.Sir Stelios is unhappy at Sir David's role in voting to give previous chief executive Andy Harrison a bonus for staying on for an extra three months and about a decision to order new planes not long before the company issued a profit warning."The board is disappointed that easyGroup (Sir Stelios's company) has taken this step which it views as an unnecessary distraction," easyJet said."The board will write to easyJet shareholders in due course setting out its position."---RG
