EasyJet to cut flights due to French strike on Thursday

Budget airline easyJet plans to cut flights to and from France by nearly a third on Thursday due to a strike by French air traffic controllers.The carrier is reducing services from Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly to southern European destinations by 30%.It said the action was likely to hit the south of France hardest, with flights to Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse and Basel in Switzerland all affected.EasyJet also warned of possible late notice cancellations of any flights using French airspace. More than 60% of the airline's flights travel over France.A spokesman said: "We would like to reassure passengers that we will do all possible to minimise the delays and will keep passengers informed."European air traffic controller unions have lifted a strike threat, but two French unions making up about a quarter of all controllers in France kept it in place after talks with the civil aviation authority failed.PW
