easyJet passengers fly 7.9% higher in May

Numbers of passengers flying with budget airline easyJet rose 7.9% in May compared to the same month last year.This helped the rolling 12-month passenger figure climb to 4.6% to 62.8m fliers for the Luton airport-based carrier.Passenger statistics showed May's load factor, the proportion of flying planes filled with passengers, was up 1.3 percentage points from 88.1% to 89.4%. The rolling 12-month load factor was up 0.7 percentage points to 89.9%. The FTSE 100 company this month said it would consider flying from Heathrow if the airport built a third runway.Chief Executive Carolyn McCall, speaking to an industry conference, quashed rumours easyJet would never move to the London hub."We fly out of lots of hubs already," she said. "We have 10 aircraft at Charles de Gaulle and we're the second-biggest carrier at Amsterdam Schiphol."But Heathrow is an expensive airport so it would be about getting the right price."OH
