Driver returns to profit, shares jump

Shares in construction consultancy Driver raced ahead after it reported a return to profitability in the three months to 31 March."The improved performance was principally due to an upturn in the European region across each of the service streams," the company said.The return to profitability came after losses in the previous quarter and Driver will post a small loss for the six months to 31 March.Driver, which works on PFI and PPP projects and in sectors such as infrastructure, oil & gas and environmental, has also unveiled Alan McClue as its new chairman. McClue has been chairman or chief executive of companies in sectors such as oil and metals.---RG
