Director dealing: Shire board shell out

(ShareCast News) - With Shire shares almost £20 short of last year's all-time high, the drug developer's chairwoman, chief executive and a clutch of senior directors have splashed some cash to show what they think of the valuation.Seven board members put their money where their mouths were, having last Thursday posted fourth quarter sales that beat forecasts and issued much stronger guidance for 2016.Chair Susan Kilsby shelled out almost $254,000 on 1,600 American Depositary Shares (ADS) late on Friday at $158.41 apiece.With one ADS equal to three ordinary shares, that meant she bought at around $52.8 per share or £36.56.CEO Flemming Ornskov forked out over $200,000 on 1,300 ADS at $154.12, while non-executives Steven Gillis and Olivier Bohuon spent $48,000 and £35,500, following purchases from fellow independent directors Anne Minto and Bill Burns earlier on Friday, as well as recently appointed general counsel Bill Mordan.For 2016, Shire is now targeting double digit top-line growth and a 7%-10% increase in earnings before even including the effect of its takeover of Baxalta.On Monday, even after trimming its price target to take effect of sector-wide compressed multiples and lower profits, broker Jefferies set a target price for Shire's shares of 5,150p and reiterated its 'buy' recommendation.Top Director BuysDatatec Ltd.
