Dairy Crest appoint new chairman

Britain-based Dairy Crest Group has appointed Stephen Alexander as its new chairman.Alexander replaces Anthony Fry, who was taken ill earlier this year and has left the group’s board with immediate effect.Having been appointed as non-executive director in 2011, Alexander was nominated chairman of the remuneration committee in May 2012."I am delighted to take up the role of Chairman. Dairy Crest is a good business and I look forward to helping to continue to further develop the company," said Alexander.Meanwhile, Richard Macdonald, who had been acting chairman while Anthony was unable to work will resume his role as senior independent director.“Anthony has had a significant influence on the business since his appointment as a non-executive director in 2007, and especially since he became chairman in 2010,” said group chief executive Mark Allen."Stephen has been a very strong non-executive and makes an excellent replacement.”Dairy Crest said it expects to issue its half-yearly trading update on 22 September and its interim results for the six months ended 30 September on 6 November.
