Chile-focused copper producer Antofagasta has pinched a resource industry veteran from rival Codelco, naming him as the new boss of its mining division.Iván Arriagada Herrera will become the chief executive officer (CEO) of Antofagasta Minerals on 16 February 2015.Arriagada, 51, has been working as vice president of administration and finance at Chilean state-owner copper mining company Codelco since 2012.Prior to that, he has held various position at BHP Billiton, including chief financial officer for the base metals division, and spent a large part of his career working for oil major Royal Dutch Shell.He has also served on the boards of Sonami, Consejo Minero and Fundación Chile."Iván has a long and distinguished career, both in Chile and abroad, and he will greatly contribute to Antofagasta Minerals operations with his experience and skills," said Antofagasta CEO Diego Hernández."His arrival will allow us to consolidate our management team, strengthening the transition we have been undergoing in the past two years. This will allow me, as Antofagasta CEO, to mainly dedicate myself to driving the company's development initiatives and its future."
