Carillion announced on Thursday the signing of two large contracts, including a £200m deal to provide support services for the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. After revealing in March that it had been selected as preferred bidder for the contract, the company said it has now been signed with work expected to begin on July 1st.Under the agreement, Carillion will provide facilities management and estate transformation services to the Trust's three main sites: Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham City Hospital and Ropewalk House. The £200m is for work over five years initially, but could be extended by further three.Carillion also announced that it has been selected - along with three other contractors - to upgrade a 17-mile stretch of the M60 and M62 motorways. The contract, awarded by the Highways Agency, is worth a total of £184m to Carillion, Balfour Beatty, Costain and a joint venture between BAM Nuttall an Morgan Sindall. The companies will upgrade the roads to 'smart motorway' status, using "innovative technologies" to control traffic flow and reduce congestion."These contracts continue our strong work winning performance in 2014 and as the largest trainer of apprentices in our industry, with long-term commitments to employing local people and to using local suppliers, they will provide further opportunities to create lasting benefits for the communities in which we work," said Carillion's Chief Executive Richard Howson.BC
