Capita, a provider of outsourced services to government and businesses, has acquired human resource management software supplier Cedar from software group Advanced Computer Software for £15m.Cedar provides software to 30 of Britain's 53 police forces. Capita said that, alongside its acquisition of mobile computing software services group Beat Systems earlier in the year and software and technology services group Sungard last year, Cedar brings it new opportunities in the area of outsourced services to police authorities."This acquisition adds both innovation and breadth to our solutions for police forces," Capita joint chief operating officer Andy Parker said. "It will allow us to offer a full, end to end, back office solution integrating payroll, rostering and scheduling, finance and procurement; in essence a platform for transformation in what is an important new market for Capita."---RG
