(Sharecast News) - Canadian General Investments updated the market on its performance on Wednesday, reporting that on an unaudited basis, its net asset value per share as at 31 October was CAD 34.71 (£20.47), resulting in year-to-date and 12-month NAV returns, with dividends reinvested, of 22.3% and 10.7%, respectively.
The Toronto and London-listed firm said those compared with the 18.1% and 13.2% returns of the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index on a total return basis for the same periods.

It noted the closing price for its common shares on 31 October was CAD 23.78, resulting in year-to-date and 12-month share price returns, with dividends reinvested, of 18.9% and 8.3%, respectively.

At period end, Canadian General said the sector weightings of its investment portfolio at market consisted of 24.1% information technology, 19% industrials, 14.4% materials, 13.3% consumer discretionary, and 10.5% financials.

The rest of the portfolio was made up of 7.5% energy, 3.3% cash and cash equivalents, 3% healthcare, 2.9% communication services, 1.5% real estate, and 0.8% utilities.

It also reported that its top 10 investments, which comprised 39.2% of the investment portfolio at market as of 31 October, consisted of Shopify at 6.7%, Air Canada at 5.5%, Mastercard at 4.3%, Franco-Nevada Corporation at 4.1%, and Canadian Pacific Railway at 3.8%.

The remainder of the top 10 investments were made up of cash at 3.3%, Amazon.com at 3%, Bank of Montreal at 3%, Royal Bank of Canada at 2.9%, and NVIDIA Corporation at 2.6%.
