DOW JONES NEWSWIRES BP PLC (BP) has hired Credit Suisse Group (CS) to act as an adviser as the troubled oil company prepares to pay for billions of dollars in potential liabilities connected to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill over the course of a few years, Fox Business Network's Charles Gasparino reported Monday. Banking advisers working with BP are also preparing for the "low probability" scenario of the oil company going into bankruptcy protection. Earlier Monday, Gasparino reported that BP had hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) and private-equity firm Blackstone Group (BX) as advisers to help it avoid possible takeovers.
