HSBC said Niall Booker has been promoted to chief executive of HSBC North America with effect from 1 August.He will succeed Brendan McDonagh who has announced his retirement after more than 30 years with the bank. Booker, who is currently deputy chief executive of HSBC North America and chief executive of HSBC Finance Corporation, will also join the management board. Chief executive Michael Geoghegan said: "The combination of Niall's four US postings during his HSBC career to date and his international experience mean that he is Brendan's obvious successor for the next phase of developing our business in North America."
