(Sharecast News) - North American metallurgical coal miner Bens Creek Group announced on Monday that highwall miner unit 81 (HWM 81) is set to restart operations by 21 August.

The AIM-traded firm said the unit's operation was temporarily halted following a mining incident in June, as it reported on 26 June.

It said the interruption was necessary to facilitate repair works, and to re-establish essential benching infrastructure.

Despite the unforeseen incident and subsequent halt in HWM 81's operations, the board said the production setback was only temporary.

The company affirmed that, apart from the expenses incurred for benching repair, no additional costs were borne due to the damage to the HWM 81.

Additionally, Bens Creek said it remained optimistic on fulfilling all of its current orders.

"We are delighted that HWM 81 will be returning to operations later this month on schedule," said chief executive officer Adam Wilson.

"We remain confident that we will meet our production targets and fulfil all our orders."

At 0925 BST, shares in Bens Creek Group were up 5.45% at 14.5p.
