Amazon Opens Online Grocery Service In UK - Reuters

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) on Wednesday started an online grocery service in the U.K., the Reuters news agency reported on its website. The U.S. online retailer joins the fray with Tesco PLC (TSCDY), Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s (WMT) Asda, J Sainsbury PLC (JSAIY) and Ocado, which is in the process of being floated, the news agency said. Amazon, however, won't be offering the one to two-hour delivery time slots offered by these grocers, the news agency reported. The U.S. online retailer already sells groceries online in the U.S. and Germany, and would sell in the U.K. over 22,000 products from brands like Kraft, Pepsi and Procter & Gamble, according to the news agency.
