(Sharecast News) - Airtel Money posted maiden results on Monday showing a spike in interim revenues, putting the mobile payments company on track to meet full-year expectations.

The African business, which debuted on the London market earlier this month, saw revenues jump 34%, or 25% on a constant currency basis, to $830m in the six months to September end, while underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation were 16% stronger at $398m.

The customer base rocketed 18.7% to 56.7m. Airtel Money currently operates across 13 African countries.

EBITDA margins narrowed to 48% from 50.8%. However, the firm insisted they were set to strengthen in the second-half, and reiterated guidance for 2027 full-year revenue growth of around 25%, and underlying EBITDA margins to moderate by up to around 2 percentage points relative to the 2026 full year.

Ian Basil Ferrao, chief executive, called the company's oversubscribed London listing was a "landmark achievement" and a "vote of confidence in our business model and strategy".

He continued: "Our first half was in line with expectations.

"Our fastest growth is coming from payments and transfers, and financial services, which are higher-quality revenue streams. The business is capital light and highly cash generative."

As at 1115 GMT, the stock had put on 4% at 186.8p.

Susannah Streeter, chief investment strategist at Wealth Club, said: "Airtel Money's compelling growth story is gathering pace, with the company attracting millions more users across Africa. Its customer based has expanded as digital payments continue to gain ground across a continent at the forefront of mobile money innovation.

"London's market may have breathed a sigh of relief at getting this long-awaited IPO over the line, particularly after the loss of high-profile growth companies to overseas exchanges, but the shares are still trading below their 196p offer price.

"This may partly reflect the need for investors to get comfortable with the valuation and the path ahead, rather than a lack of faith in the underlying growth story."
