Aggreko, the temporary power and temperature control services group, has appointed Centrica board member Chris Weston as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).Weston, currently Managing Director of Centrica's International Downstream division, will replace Aggreko's interim CEO Angus Cockburn who will step down later this year."I am delighted to welcome Chris to Aggreko on behalf of all the board and the company," said Aggreko's Chairman Ken Hanna. "Chris brings senior experience of the energy industry and proven leadership skills in a large international business."Weston has a 12-month notice period at Centrica and the company said it would make an announcement in due course regarding the timing of his departure.Sam Laidlaw, Chief Executive of Centrica, said: "Chris has made an important contribution to Centrica over 11 years, leading a number of our businesses, in the UK and North America. We will be sorry to see him leave but recognise that Aggreko offers a great opportunity for him." Cockburn, who stepped in after previous boss Rupert Soames quit to take up the helm of outsourcer Serco earlier this year, decided not to apply for the role on a permanent basis. After 14 years at Aggreko mainly as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), he is "keen to seek fresh challenges", the group said.Aggreko also said that Carole Cran, who was working as interim CFO, has been appointed permanent CFO and will join the board as an Executive Director straight away.Hanna thanked Cockburn for his "immense contribution" but said Cran is an "extremely able successor [...] who has many years of experience with the group".BC
