Marketing behemoth WPP, via its wholly-owned data and consulting business Kantar Retail, has acquired Italian sales automation software provider XTEL.XTEL made revenues of €8.3m in calendar 2013 and had gross assets at year end of €0.8m.The Bologna-based business's software allows its customers, mostly in the consumer goods industry, to use data analytics to drive better sales strategies and processes, including sales planning, trade promotion management, retail execution and advanced pricing.WPP said the combined Kantar Retail-XTEL offer "will help clients effectively to harness the power of big data through the use of solutions that bring together industry-dedicated features, advanced analytics, mobile and cloud". In Italy, WPP companies and associates generated like-for-like revenue growth in Italy of almost 5% in 2013 from revenues of around $400m.Shares in WPP were up 1.27% to 1,278.00 at 11:25 on Tuesday.
