Aqua, the digital agency majority-owned by FTSE 100-listed WPP, has acquired Applogix, a marketing and e-commerce technology company in South Africa.The firm, which employs around 20 people, provides a range of services, including web and mobile application build, front-end development, e-commerce and user experience design. Its clients include Standard Bank and Shell. "This acquisition strengthens Aqua's ability to provide clients with leading edge technical solutions, especially in the rapidly developing mobile and e-commerce space," a statement from WPP read. Applogix's unaudited revenues for the year ended February 2014 were ZAR 10.3m, with gross assets of around ZAR 2.8m at the year-end.The group added: "This investment continues WPP's strategy of developing its services in fast-growing and important markets and sectors and strengthening its capabilities in digital media."Shares in the group had fallen 0.08% to 1,262p.
