FTSE 100 group WPP has acquired a minority stake in SecondSync, an early-stage social TV business, through its wholly-owned data investment management business, Kantar. SecondSync, which has a client list that includes Channel 4, ITV, BBC, Shine and MediaCom, has been acquired to strengthen Kantar's position and WPP's data investment management businesses as a whole. The acquired company is based in Bristol and was launched in 2012.WPP also announced the acquisition, via its wholly-owned operating company, JWT, of a majority stake in Hong Kong digital consultancy Designercity.The business, which was founded in 1995 and is based in Hong Kong, is a digital consultancy that builds integrated digital solutions that connect across a range of different devices. WPP said that investment marks a "further step towards [its] declared goal of developing its businesses in the fast growing economies of Asia Pacific, as well as Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe".
