Thursday preview: RBS publishes full-year results

Royal Bank of Scotland releases its annual results on Thursday amid a foreign exchange market rigging scandal.UBS forecasts underlying profit of £6.8bn after net releases of £300m for the year."Key topics for the market will be the underlying capital position (after adjusting for disposals) and what this means for potential distributions," the bank said. "The market will also hope for an update on litigation related issues, particularly FHFA in the US."Numis expects the bank to report statutory pre-tax profit of £3.9bn, compared to a loss of £5.2bn the previous year. It predicts operating profit of £4.6bn following a £1.1bn a year earlier. The broker sees the focus being on operating expenses, including restructuring costs and litigation costs, which are projected to amount to £15.5bn.The full-year results come a day after reports RBS has suspended two employees as part of an investigation by the lender into foreign exchange market manipulation.
