TechMARK movers: Directors buy GB

Identification services provider GBG Group has switched from worst performer yesterday to best performer today. The share price recovery is on the back of directors buying shares. Chief executive Richard Law acquired 152,450 shares, the boss of the DataSolutions business Nick Brown bought 203,250 shares and John Lord, managing director of the poorly performing DataAuthentication business, acquired 101,600 shares. All the shares were acquired at 19.359p each.GB Group's interim figures showed a profit of £341,000 in the six months to September 2009, down from £521,000 in the first half of the previous year. House broker KBC Peel Hunt slashed its 2009-10 profit forecast from £2.1m to £800,000, because DataAuthentication has been hit by lower volumes from two major clients.Shares in Renovo have fallen back following the reduction in Goldman Sachs's stake in the company from 10.9% to 9.64%. Renovo is a biotech company focused on improving the appearance of scars. Renovo announced that it was in talks with a potential bidder on 6 April 2009 but it said that these talks had ended on 17 September 2009. Renovo announced a change in strategy that means it will focus clinical development on its late stage product portfolio. The board has been reduced in size and the remaining directors will not be getting a pay increase. This cost cutting means that Renovo should have at least £25m in the bank in the first half of 2011.Last week, Gartmore edged up its stake in Renovo to just over 22%. Renovo will report its figures for the year to September 2009 on 15 December. A loss of around £20m is forecast.
