Some Ebola flight restrictions lifted says Westminster Group

Safety and security product supplier Westminster Group has announced that Gambia Bird, one of the airlines that suspended flights due to the West African Ebola outbreak, is due to resume business as usual shortly.Several airlines had halted flights into the affected region while other airlines including Brussels Airlines and Royal Air Maroc had continued to fly into the airport whose security is managed by WG.Gambia Bird should begin flights on 17 October, subject to final board approval, the company said in a statement.Westminster chief executive officer Peter Fowler said: "The Ebola outbreak in West Africa continues to be tragic for all those affected and economically damaging for the countries concerned.""However it is hoped that, given the extensive international aid and efforts now being deployed by the international community together with the exhaustive efforts of the local governments, this outbreak will be brought under control and that the countries can return to normality in the weeks and months ahead.The International Air Travel Association and the World Health Organisation have been advocating that no air travel restrictions are necessary and the United Nations, among others, has asked that suspended flights be reintroduced as a matter of urgency.Fowler added: "In that respect I am delighted to see Gambia Bird resuming services and sincerely hope other airlines follow suit in due course."
