ACAL, the European specialist provider of technology products and services, swung back into the black in the year to 31 March, with a pre-tax profit of £1.9m on revenue of £265m.The year before it had made a loss of £6.3m on revenue of £182m. Underlying profit before tax advanced to £7.1m from a loss of £0.9m the year before. The full year dividend has been hiked to 7.47p from 7.0p.The company said it has acquired Hectronic, a Swedish specialist electronics business for £1.2m.Fuel cell technology company Ceres Power enjoyed a massive surge on Wednesday after it said it had successfully deployed a solution for the boiler tuning/calibration issue that was causing problems in the current wave of field trials.Electronic security solutions firm Digital Barriers made a loss before tax of £4.6m in the 13 months to 31 March, on revenue of £6.6m. After adding back amortisation of acquired intangibles of £0.7m, the unwinding of the discount on deferred consideration of £0.1m, flotation and placing costs of £0.2m and acquisition costs of £0.9m, the loss was reduced to £2.7m. --jh
