Sirius Minerals, the AIM listed potash development company has won approval for two drill sites in the North York Moors National Park.Potash is a potassium compound used extensively in fertilizers and its extraction can be highly profitable.On news of the permission being granted managing director Chris Fraser, said: "We believe the York Potash Project is world-class and of significant national importance to the United Kingdom. This drilling programme will help us define further the extent and quality of the potash deposit. It is our intent to commence site preparation works and then drilling as soon as practicable."Sirius has also revealed it has applied for permission to drill at three other locations in the North York Moors.Sirius bought York Potash in January and thereby acquired its various agreements with major land owners over mineral rights covering more than 600 square kilometres onshore and offshore between the towns of Whitby and Scarborough in North Yorkshire.BS
