Sichuan Airlines sticks with Rolls-Royce

Engine designer and supplier Rolls-Royce is part of a consortium that has won an order from Sichuan Airlines.The order, which is worth $100m to Rolls-Royce, is for V2500 engines to power 12 Airbus A320 aircraft that the airline currently has on order. Sichuan's current A320 family fleet of 61 aircraft in service and on order is exclusively powered by the V2500.The V2500 is produced by the International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) in which Rolls-Royce is a senior shareholder. IAE's other partners are Pratt & Whitney, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.Rolls-Royce will handle the long term engine service duties for the aircraft, which are due to be delivered between 2011 and 2015.
