Rolls-Royce wins US Air Force contract

Aerospace giant Rolls-Royce has scored a 182.7m-dollar contract with the US Air Force to support the C-130J fleet amid concerns over cuts in government defence spending. Under the so-called MissionCare, Rolls-Royce will supply sustainment services for its AE 2100 engines, nacelles and propellers on the US Air Force C-130J fleet. The work includes logistics and programme management support, engineering services, spares and technical data support. The Air Force has increased its order for spares and spare parts. It has also added Rolls-Royce Field Service Representatives at two new bases.Rolls-Royce now provides C-130J support at 12 US Air Force bases, with 10 in the US and two overseas.Paul Craig, Rolls-Royce President of Defence Customer Services, said: "We continually seek new ways to deliver innovative and cost effective support to the US Air Force and we are delighted to be expanding our services on their behalf."The US Air Force contract is in the seventh option year. The announcement comes a week after Rolls-Royce said it expects flat 2014 revenue and profit due to cuts in US and UK government defence spending. RD
