Rolls-Royce wins share of Etihad deal

Rolls-Royce has won a $190m (£115m) share in an order from United Arab Emirates airline Etihad for V2500 engines to power a total of 20 Airbus A320s.The deal, which includes a long-term service agreement, was handed to the International Aero Engines consortium (IAE) which makes the V2500 and in which Rolls is a senior shareholder.IAE's other partners are Pratt & Whitney, the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation and MTU Aero Engines.Today’s news comes follows Monday’s $1.5bn engine order to power 20 new Gulf Air aircraft. Trent 700EP engines will power 20 Airbus A330 aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2012. The contract, signed at the Paris Air Show, includes a TotalCare long-term service agreement. Rolls also announced a number of smaller contracts. German carrier Condor Airlines has signed a $150m five-year extension to its existing TotalCare long-term services agreement. The engineer also won a $230m share of an order from Air China for V2500 engines to power a total of 22 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft and a $230m share of an order from Qatar Airways for V2500 engines to power a total of 20 Airbus A320 and four A321 aircraft.
