Rolls-Royce wins order for 11 Trent engines

Rolls-Royce has taken on Azul Brazilian Airlines as a new customer after it announced it would begin operating 11 Trent-powered Airbus aircraft.The deal was signed along $400m-worth of engine service support which will increase the group's order book by $100m. Azul will operate six Airbus A330-200 and five Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft powered by Trent 700 and Trent XWB engines respectively. Bruce Blythe, Rolls-Royce's Senior Vice President of Customers of Civil Large Engines, said: "We are proud to be part of the Azul story and delighted that it has put its trust in Trent engines to power its widebody fleet. "Our TotalCare support will help Azul to maximise aircraft availability and manage maintenance costs. We look forward to supporting the airline's continued expansion for many years to come."The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the A330 and is the market leader on the A330 with almost 70% of new orders over the last three years. The Trent XWB, the world's most efficient aero engine and specifically designed for the A350 XWB, is the largest-selling Trent engine ever, with more than 1,600 already sold.The deal is expected to complete within the coming months, Rolls-Royce added.
