Rolls-Royce wins airline contract

Power systems giant Rolls-Royce has secured a $350m contract from Hawaiian Airlines to deliver Trent 700 engines to power five Airbus A330 aircraft. The aircraft, which are to be delivered from 2013 to 2015, will add to the airline's current fleet of five Trent 700-powered A330s and another 12 to be delivered.More than 1,400 Trent 700 engines are now in service or on firm order. In the past three years the engine has captured more than 75% of orders forthe A330.The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and is the most fuel-efficient, cleanest and quietest engine for the aircraft, Rolls-Royce claims. It now incorporates technology from later generation Trent engines, which has further improved its fuel-efficiency by 1%. NR
