Rolls-Royce wins £50m machinery contract offshore Brazil

Engineering firm Rolls-Royce has won a contract worth £50m to supply deck machinery for four large anchor handlers offshore Brazil.The vessels, to be delivered for Edison Chouest Offshore, have been developed to operate in Brazilian waters under an eight-year contract with Petrobas.The machinery includes low-pressure high-torque winches, stern rollers, anchor handling cranes and anchor launch and recovery systems.The vessels were designed by North American Shipbuilder and will be built in Brazil by Estaleiro Navship."We are proud that Edison Chouest has chosen Rolls-Royce products for these new and advanced vessels," said John Knudsen, President of Rolls-Royce's Offshore division."Our anchor handling team's in-depth knowledge about offshore operations has been vital to developing the optimum solution together with the ship owner and designer.
